The whole Minion Family are heading to Europe! This time we are making a short visit to Vienna before spending a majority of our time in Germany. We’ll be flying out of Seattle so we need to make our way from Vancouver to Seattle. The hope was to hop on a bus and go straight to the airport like the Sister and I did on our most recent Sibling trip. However, due to scheduling, the bus isn’t operating on our travel day. So instead we decide to take the train!
Amtrak Cascades Route (Vancouver to Seattle)
Bright and Early, we head to Vancouver’s Pacific Central Station. There is a preclearance facility here, so we’re able to go through customs before you board. This makes for a much smoother brief stop at the border before you’re on your way. It’s a five hour journey between the two cities and it goes pretty smoothly!
After arriving in Seattle’s King Street Station, its a short walk over to Seattle’s Light Rail system which takes you straight to Sea-Tac Airport. It takes about 20 minutes and before we know it, we’re at the airport!

Condor Airlines (Seattle to Frankfurt)
Since we’re a little early for our flight, we spend a bit of time at the Club Lounges to relax before flying! It’s nice to be able to share some of the more enjoyable parts of transit with the family. So enjoying small creature comforts like lounges at airports with them is always a treat!
Soon enough, its time for us to board our flight to Europe! We’re all a bit eager to check out Condor Airlines. First of all they have one of the most unique liveries in the air. If you haven’t seen them their stripped fuselages are hard to miss and easy to remember! Their planes are also very new and modern, so even small quality of life improvements like USB-C in their entertainment systems are very cool to see.
Once airborne, they serve a full meal after takeoff. Being a “leisure airline” there isn’t a choice for meals but the one option we get is still tasty and keeps us content as we fly. Overall the flight goes really smoothly and closer to landing we are given a cheese sandwich. I’m not huge on cheese but it’s nice to know there are 1.5 meals served onboard a long haul flight on Condor!
Condor Flight to Vienna
After a short layover in Frankfurt, its time again for us to make the short hop over to Vienna. This time have buses to take us to the very striking stripped Condor plane. Being able to board from the air stairs offers some beautiful views of these cool looking aircraft! It’s a short hour and a half flight so it passes quickly and our long day of travel
Vienna
After landing we check into our hotel for the next two days. We spend a bit of time resting and settling ourselves before we head out to do a bit of exploring our surroundings. Just at first glance, Vienna is a beautiful city. The architecture is amazing and there is a nice hustle and bustle to the city! We spend some time walking through the different streets and taking it all in!
Gasthaus Reinthaler
As we walk, one of our goals is to find dinner. We find this at Gasthaus Reinthaler which is a small restaurant not too far from our hotel. It’s our first Austrian meal so we order a myriad of different items off the menu. The Sister and Papa Minion get different types of Schnitzel, Mama Minion orders an egg pancake and I get a grilled pork cutlet with mushroom sauce. We must have been very hungry because the food disappears from our plates in record time! All the items are super tasty, but if I’m being selfish, I think I enjoyed my dish the most!
After a very satisfying meal, we make our way back to our hotel to settle in for the evening. After a long day of travel the fatigue starts to catch up to us. We have a full day in Vienna tomorrow so aim to get as much rest as we can!
Sweet memories!
