Falling Ill on the Last Few Days

We had a pretty chill day planned. Physio had a dental appointment in the morning so he left early. Suzy and I were going to grab lunch then meet up and do some shopping. Unfortunately, I woke up feeling a little under the weather, but not enough to pass on the days activities so we headed out!

Laundry Pizza

Suzy wanted to visit a pizza shop that was frequented by some Korean pop stars. We made our way to Laundry Pizza which is decorated inside like a laundromat. We each ordered a few slices and proceeded to chow down. Suzy took a few photos of different spots in the restaurant where other Kpop stars posed. All in all, the pizza was pretty standard, though they had some interesting toppings (like mac and cheese)

Lotte Tower

After pizza, Suzy and I headed towards Lotte Tower where we met up with Physio. First, we entered the mall portion of the tower where there was an Olympic pop up store setup. After about an hour of shopping we picked up some olympic memorabilia. We continued to do some shopping, but I started to feel my energy fading and so after a few hours shopping, I decided to head home to rest.

Sick

I’d like to say that I felt better after resting a bit I was fine, but I ended up sleeping the rest of day and through the night. Perhaps the cold and the long days got to me, but I was “done” for the day. Physio and Suzy ended up going to dinner with another friend that night, but I opted to stay home to recover.

By the next morning I was feeling much better (its a wonder what a lot of sleep can do for one’s health!) and the first order of business was to get some food. We visited a restaurant nearby which allowed us to choose the ingredients and the staff would cook us rice with the ingredients in front of us! After not having much food over the past 24 hours It was good to have some tasty food in front of me.

After “lunch” the three of us actually went our separate ways. Suzy needed to go to the train station to see if there were available train tickets to gangneung. He learned there was a Kpop concert playing with some of the groups he was a fan of performing. Physio had a follow up medical appointment to go to. And I wanted to visit Ewha Women’s university. Because it was on many lists that I looked up prior to coming to Korea and this was a chance to check it out.

Ewha Women University

After splitting up, I hopped on the train enroute to Ewha Women’s University After arriving it was a short walk from the subway station to the entrance of the university.

Ultimately, the campus itself is very pretty and I spent an hour or two exploring and taking a few photos.

Changing of the Guard

After Physio’s appointment we all decided that we would meet up again in Myongdong. On the way back I ended up near city hall again where , by chance, I was able to catch the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the palace . I stopped to watch the tail end of the ceremony and along the way stopped by the Olympic countdown clock. It was a great little surprise.

Cheonggyecheon Stream

Since I was nearby I decided to visit Cheonggyecheon Stream again. Since I didn’t have much time last time. This time I walked along the stream for a little bit before making my way towards Myongdong to meet up with the guys.

Afterwards, we shopped for a little bit until we saw a sign for a massage. After a little deliberation we all opted to relax a bit and got hour long massages!

Curling & Fried Chicken

After, we met up with another one of Suzy’s friends and visited a bar that served fried chicken. We ordered some chicken, beer and watched Korea’s female curling team secure a spot in the gold medal round. It’s certainly something to be in a room filled with Koreans as their team wins and gets a chance at gold. There was a lot of cheering and celebrating in the bar, and it was very cool to be apart of it.

By the time we finished, it was late and we all taxied back to our apartment to crash before our last full day in Korea.
