Park Lane Breakfast PlayT
Today is our last day in Hong Kong before The Sister and I head home. Because of status, I am able to bring a guest, so the Sister and I have breakfast at the Park Lane’s restaurant, PlayT. The buffet features fresh juices to classic Western breakfast staples. But of course, they also have local comfort foods including steaming dim sum and a made-to-order soup noodles.
London Restaurant
While breakfast at the hotel is great, we make sure not to stuff ourselves since our next stop is Dim Sum with our aunt. It’s a large multi-floor dim sum spot, with traditional trolley service. However, they also have a central area setup where customers are able to peruse, pick up and bring items back to their tables. It’s a novel experience and we enjoy it along with spending time with yet another family member!
Hong Kong Island
Because we don’t have any other specific plans for the rest of our day, The Sister and I decide to wander the area surrounding our hotel on Hong Kong Island. It’s a bustling area with lots of cool shops and eateries! There’s some interesting art and displays to see all over the place!Â
Cafe De Coral
For our final dinner before leaving, our family head to a local fast-casual comfort food restaurant: Cafe De Coral. It has an extensive menu of so many tasty menu items. It’s not fancy, and its not elaborate, but it’s a perfect meal for our family to enjoy, and reminisce on a very memorable Minion Family trip!
The Way Home
Sadly, all good things do come to an end, and we head back to the hotel where The Sister and I start to pack and prepare for our trip home the next day. The Parental Minions will head to Shenzhen and remain in China for a few more days before they head home themselves. In the morning, we quickly swing by the Parental Minion’s hotel room for a quick good bye. The Sister and I then hop into an Uber for the ride to Hong Kong International Airport.
Qantas Hong Kong International Lounge
After checking in, and clearing security we make our way to the Qantas Lounge. It’s a very airy and open lounge with some wonderful views of the tarmac and Skybridge! We spend an hour or two here enjoying the view and food. They even have their own dim sum trolley that they roll around to the different tables!
Cathay The Wing Lounge
As we get closer to our boarding time, we also quickly swing by Cathay’s The Wing Lounge. Since we don’t fly on Oneworld carriers too often, being able to check out both these lounges is a treat! However, I did find the Cathay lounge significantly busier than the Qantas lounge. While the lounge is still very nice. I’d likely lean towards the Qantas one in the future because it’s a bit more peaceful.
Hong Kong to Narita JL 736
Soon its time for us to board our flight to Narita. While we are flying economy, we are happy to score bulkhead seats at the front of the cabin. The flight is smooth and comfortable and after a few hours in the air we start our approach into Narita where we have a few hours to kill before our onward flight home.
Narita JAL Sakura Lounge
To pass the time, The Sister and I spend some time in JAL’s Sakura lounge. It’s a large two floor lounge that is well appointed, has good food and drink options and wonderful views for plane spotting. Similar to Cathay’s The Wing, it does get crowded so isn’t as peaceful as some would probably prefer. Nonetheless it’s a comfortable way to enjoy a layover.

Narita to Vancouver JL18
Before long, it’s time for us to board our flight home. Again we are able to score the bulkhead seats and again the flight is smooth and JAL is great to us. However, in retrospect, I realize I should have taken my own advice. Not all extra legroom seats are created equal. Normal seats have the screen and tray table on the seat in front of you. However, for bulkhead seats, they are typically stored in the arm rests. This reduces the width of the seat. So while we had a lot of room to stretch our legs, an overnight flight is a bit tougher to shift around and get a comfortable few hours of sleep. It’s a good reminder to consider these things when picking seats!
Home!
Eventually we touch down in our home airport of Vancouver. We see the familiar totems poles that tell us we are home! For The Sister and I, this is the end of another wonderful Minion Family trip. We just need to wait for the Parental Minions to follow us home in a week!

Until then, this is where I will wrap up another wonderful trip with so many memories made! I will be posting a wrap up of this trip next, so please stay tuned!
