To cap up the wrap ups, The Sister and I sat down with the Parental Minions to get their thoughts on the trip. While the responses may be brief, I’m happy to get their unique perspective on this trip and happy to also have them share it on this blog. I appreciate those that follow along the journey and if you’d like to check out the whole trip here. Or check out my own wrap up here.
The Parental Minion’s Top 3 Highlights
Highlight #1:
Papa Minion: “In Shenzhen, getting the drone to deliver the drink and riding in the autonomous taxi. It wasn’t something you just see on TV, but something I experienced right there.”
Mama Minion: “Visit to Shenzhen Talent Park: Robot-manned coffee booth, drones delivering food orders, travelling in driverless cars, and the bakery & the delightful Macdonalds in the Shenzhen Plaza mall”
Highlight #2:
Papa Minion: “Old city of Shanghai”
Mama Minion: “Roaming around the neighborhood in Shanghai near the LV boat and the Starbucks Roastery”
Highlight #3:
Papa Minion: “Shimizu port and seeing Mt Fuji”
Mama Minion: “Strolling in the Hiroshima garden.”
Bonus Highlight:
Mama Minion: “The afternoon tea at the cafe in Busan“
Favourite Meal
Papa Minion: “Ikinari Steak in Japan. It wasn’t a regular sit-down-at-a-table type of steakhouse. You sat at high tops. I enjoyed it so much we went twice.”
Mama Minion: “Lunch with our cousin in Shanghai — the setting and a change of experience in dim sum”
If I could change the itinerary…
Papa Minion: “I would rather stop in Jeju island than Busan in Korea because it has more character.”
Mama Minion: “I would visit more points of interest in Hong Kong and its vicinity.”
What surprised Me?
Papa Minion: “I didn’t realize that the Shanghai cruise port was so far away from city centre. I thought it would stop right in the city centre. Also how cheap taking Didi was in China. It’s cheaper than the subway!”
Mama Minion: “I was surprised by the changes in Shenzhen.”
One memorable story from this trip
Papa Minion: “The Shenzhen trip and how the drone delivered the bubble tea.”
“Also playing Mahjong with the family on the cruise ship.”
Mama Minion: “Nice wall ads in Busan like the “I love Jesus” pizza shop sign.”
“I also remembered the elderly lady chasing after us at Fukuoka in Ohori Park to return a little overpaid money after we had bought the strawberry cider.”
Did I pack appropriately?
Papa Minion: “I felt I packed too much and I can still can cut down.”
Mama Minion: “I did. I ended up picking up an extra suitcase for snacks but the clothes I packed were adequate.”

Regrets?
Papa Minion: “No, only happiness.”
Mama Minion: “I would have loved to visit more places in Canton.”
Advice for people considering similar trips/destinations?
Papa Minion: “It was very relaxing and easy trip. All the places were easy and had good transportation”
Mama Minion: “The cruise itinerary was too tight in the beginning. It would have been good if the program was more evened out.“
Final thoughts?
Papa Minion: It was good. I enjoyed the trip.
Mama Minion: A most wonderful time being able to travel as a family!
And with that, we conclude another successful and very memorable Minion Family Vacation! We’re already looking forward to and planning the next one!
